Good Morning Mason Nation. It’s been 50 years that the Patriots have been playing both men’s and women’s basketball.

Only one time have both teams had 20+ wins in the same season.

Until now.

The 2023-24 season joins the 1987-88 season as the only two times in school history that both basketball squads have 20+ wins in the same year.

🏀 TOURNEY TIME

There’s simply nothing like March.

The thrills. The agony. The excitement.

The eighth-seeded Mason men’s hoops team is set to kick off action in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Tournament this week when they take on ninth-seeded Saint Joseph’s at 11:30 am at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 20/20 Vision. That, that’s how you sendoff the seniors.

In the last regular season appearance at EBA, the Mason men’s basketball team dismantled the A-10 regular season champions, Richmond, in a 64-46 senior night victory.

With the victory, the Patriots won 20 regular season games for the first time since 2011-12.

Offensively, senior Darius Maddox continued his torrid pace of late with a game-high 18 points. Graduate forward Amari Kelly added 14 points and seven rebounds, while senior Woody Newton tallied his first career double-double with 12 points and a personal-best 11 rebounds.

🔺 Title Twosome. You know those trips that you end up coming back with more stuff than you packed? Well, Mason wrestling is enjoying that situation this time.

Patriot wrestlers Evan Maag and Malachi DuVall were crowned champions at this weekend’s Mid-American Conference Championships in Kent, Ohio. The duo joins teammate DJ McGee as NCAA Qualifiers.

It marks the first time since 2018-19 that Mason had three wrestlers qualify for NCAA Championships.

Overall, the Green & Gold finished a program-best third place at the championship, besting last year's sixth-place finish. Prior to 2023, Mason finished finished 11th  the previous two seasons in the 13-team conference.

🔺 Double Dose. With the temperatures starting to creep up, so is the action inside the RAC.

The 17th-ranked Mason men’s volleyball continued its torrid pace, winning for the sixth time in the past eight matches, sweeping NJIT (3-1) and FDU (3-1) over the weekend to stay unbeaten at home this season.

Freshman Jackson Herbert was impressive on the weekend, racking up 29 kills in the two matches, including a 19-kill performance against FDU. Once again, senior Omar Hoyos was stellar with 26 kills in the two matches. He has now had double-digit kills in seven straight matches.

🔺 Winning Weekend. The reigning A-10 Champs continued their winning ways over the weekend, picking up their second straight weekend series victory.

Mason’s baseball squad took two of three over Monmouth, winning the first two games of the series by tallies of 6-5 (10 innings) and 2-1.

The Patriots have now won five of their past six entering back-to-back mid-week matchups at home this week.
