📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Seventh Heaven. 30 years.

That’s how long it’s been since the Mason women’s basketball team put together a seven-game winning streak… UNTIL NOW!

And like most win streaks, sometimes, it just requires a little extra grit and on Wednesday night, the Patriots used every bit of it to grind out a 54-47 victory over Fordham to stay near the top of the A-10 standings.

Sonia Smith (15) and Ta'Viyanna Habib (13) led the way offensively, scoring 28 of the team's 54 points. Smith also had a team high four assists while Habib contributed four rebounds, an assist and a steal.

🔺 Row, Row, Row Your Boat. The waters around Northern Virginia are getting a lot busier.

Mason women’s rowing team is about to kick off the 2024 season, which includes two home regattas and three trips to New Jersey.

🔺 Love and Heartbreak. Sometimes love can bring heartbreak and that’s what a trip to the City of Brotherly Love did to the Mason men’s hoops squad.

Wednesday night, the Patriots traveled to Philly and battled all 40 minutes with one of the A-10 preseason favorites in Saint Joe’s, but dropped a tough 75-73 decision.

Sophomore Keyshawn Hall led the Patriots with a game-high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds and two assists. Graduate forward Amari Kelly added 18 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Baraka Okojie dazzled with 14 points to go along with a career-high six assists and four steals.

We like our Brew hot n’ fresh. But we’re not opposed to you reheating your cup. Here’s some news you may have missed recently…

🔺 Connect Four. We told you on Monday about how great a weekend it was for the Green & Gold.

Now, we’ve got even more evidence of that.

To quote LeBron…. “Not one, not two, not three”, but 4️⃣ Patriots earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week accolades.

Men’s Basketball’s Baraka Okojie, men’s swimming’s Alex Crown, women’s basketball’s Zahirah Walton and men’s track and field’s Walt Bannerman all earned the honor.

We’d have to say… the future is pretty, pretty bright in Fairfax!
