🔼 The Madness Returns. There’s an excitement building in the air and that excitement will reach fever pitch on Friday, Oct. 13th.

On Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m., EagleBank Arena will host the official kick-off to George Mason men's and women's basketball season. Mason Madness is presented by The Main on University.

Mason fans will be introduced to the student-athletes from each team and hear from new men's basketball head coach Tony Skinn ('06) and women's basketball head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis. Each team also will take part in a scrimmage on the EagleBank Arena floor.

In addition, Mason Athletics will welcome back the Green Machine for performances throughout the evening. The event also will feature performances from Mason Spirit and a variety of George Mason student organizations.

Mason Madness is free for all attendees and no ticket is required. The first 2000 fans in attendance will receive a complimentary Mason glow stick!

🔼 Once A Patriot, Always A Patriot. The Green & Gold lasts forever.

Once you put on the Mason kit, that pride runs in you forever and we saw the power of that family this past weekend as the men’s soccer program hosted their alumni night with over 30 former Patriots returning to Fairfax to cheer on the old squad and share stories, laughs and a great, great time.

Thanks to all those alums who made it out! We’ll see you soon for a game!

🔼 Pushing The Limits. What’s the best way to prepare for a grind-it-out season?

Push your limits.

That’s what Mason’s men’s basketball squad did recently as they jumped into a full on bootcamp with the local ROTC to be tested mentally and challenged physically.

Tick, tock, tick, tock… the season is coming.

🔼 Rollin’’ To The River City. The Mason women’s soccer team continues to quest through the Atlantic 10 tomorrow afternoon as the Patriots make the short trip down 95 to the River City to battle the Spiders of the University of Richmond.

The Green and Gold are looking to secure its first win of the season facing off a Richmond team that is 2-5-3 and have lost three straight heading into tomorrow’s showdown.

🤔 PATRIOT TRIVIA

Busting Up The Web. About 100 miles come between Mason’s campus and the campus of the University of Richmond.

They’ve shared conferences now on two occasions (CAA and the Atlantic 10) and have a rivalry dating back to the 1980s.

Overall, Mason’s women’s soccer team has faced off against the Spiders 15 times, five of those have come on UR’s campus.

How many of those five games have the Patriots came away victorious?

Got a guess?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 4-1 overall.

Playing on the road is never easy, but the Patriots sure have enjoyed their trips to U of R winning four of the five times that they’ve played the Spiders on their home turf.

Two of those four victories came at a time that the Spiders were ranked in the top-25 nationally.

Most recently, the Green and Gold won 2-1 in the spring of 2021 and 2-0 in October of 2018.

⭐️ Enjoy your Wednesday, y’all!
