🔼 Class Acts. There were plenty of wins and plenty of incredible performances.
That success wasn’t limited to athletic competition for the Patriots this past year as Mason ranked third among all 15 Atlantic 10 institutions with 327 student-athletes honored on the A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
George Mason's number of Atlantic 10 honorees is the second highest in department history to the 332 earning the distinction in 2020-21. Last year 287 Patriots were named to the honor roll.
The Patriots had 255 student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or better, including 68 with a 4.0 GPA.
Designed to recognize excellence in the classroom, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport at a full member institution must have a combined fall and spring semester grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the academic year to be selected for the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Both freshmen and graduate students are eligible to receive the award. In each of the last seven years, the league honored over 3,000 student-athletes per year.
🔼 Puzzle Complete. And now, we work.
Coach Skinn completed his puzzle for the upcoming 2024-25 season with the addition of Staš Sivka to the Green & Gold.
A native of Celje, Slovenia, Sivka is a 6-foot-10 inch forward with a 7-foot-2 inch wingspan. He comes to Fairfax after playing two seasons of professional basketball in his home country.
Sivka has suited up for two seasons with BC Rogaska in the Pro-A Slovenian league, most recently playing alongside former Patriot Javon Greene ('21). He averaged 6.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game during the 2022-23 campaign and then missed the bulk of the 2023-24 season due to a shoulder injury.
Considered one of the top prospects in Slovenia, he competed for the country's U-20 team in 2023.
