🔼 Movin’ On In. Well, it’s not the Jeffersons (for those old enough to understand that), but we’re just as excited to have our Patriots back in Fairfax!

This week, we got to see some familiar faces, along with our new faces joining the Green and Gold this fall.

Today is the first day of classes on campus and we’re PUMPED to see everyone cheering on our Patriots this fall.

🔼 They’re BAAAACKKK. That’s right after both the volleyball and men’s soccer team got some exhibition play under their belts this past weekend, this week begins the real tests.

Both teams will be in action AT HOME this week… let’s get out and support our squads!

Volleyball opens up its 2023 season by hosting the DC Challenge this weekend, including games against American (2 pm) and Georgetown (7pm) on Saturday, and Howard on Sunday (2 pm).

Men’s Soccer opens up their 2023 campaign this Thursday night as they host a tough UMBC squad on Green & Gold Night, the first of many promotions this fall.

🔼 Home Sweet Home. There’s nothing like home.

Mason rowing welcomed one of its one back home as Marie Michael, Class of 2022, was announced as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.
 
Michael competed for the Patriots for four seasons from 2018-22.
 
"I'm so excited to welcome Marie to our coaching staff," Richards said. "She was an outstanding student-athlete on our team during her undergraduate career and I'm sure she's going to be a great mentor for the next generation of George Mason student-athletes."
 
During her time on the water with the Green & Gold, Michael competed in both the Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ boats. She earned the program's Linmarie Martin Row Model Award in 2022, which is given annually to a student-athlete who makes a tremendous impact on the program through their leadership and team spirit.

🔼 Road Map. There’s a reason it’s called home-field advantage. Playing on the road is never easy, no matter what sport.

The Mason women’s soccer team dropped a tough 3-0 decision to Appalachian State on Sunday in the Patriots’ first true road game of the season.

App State got an early goal and held on to the lead into the second half where they got two goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to come out with the 3-0 win.

Mason continues its trip through North Carolina when it faces another tough road test at East Carolina on Thursday night.

📝 ICYMI

🔼 Nationals Or Bust. For the first-time ever, Mason spirit squads got an experience they had never had before, the annual National Dance Alliance and National Cheerleaders Association Camp.

Because of their showing and work during the week, all THREE of the Mason squads participating in the week earned bids to Nationals, set to be held on April 10-13, 2024 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The Patriots dance team earned a silver medal in the NDA Collegiate Best Team Dance out of 10 teams earning a spirit stick and a bid to Nationals. Riley Sears and Hannah Hall-Salem earned All-American recognition for their expertise with the Masonettes Dance Team.

Mason cheer's coed team and all-girl team each received a spirit stick for their outstanding spirit and bids to Nationals.
