Well, some of our Patriots showed that versatility this weekend and now have a backup plan if the whole sports thing doesn’t work out.

Move-in weekend put us on the front lines and we met some of our newest members of the Mason family.

We are full steam ahead with both soccers and volleyball in action already.

🔼 Patriots Moving Service, Ready For Hire. With temperatures rising and the sun blaring, it’s always good to have helping hands.

Enter the Patriots Moving Service — no, that’s not really a thing (yet).

Coach Skinn and some of the Patriots hit the campus this weekend to lend a helping hand to some familiar faces, and some of the newest members of the Mason family.

We can’t wait to see them at a game this year!

It’s been in preparation for this week. Mason cross country is officially back on the course this, opening the 2023 season at the Spider Open down in Mechanicsviille, Va. at Pole Green Park.

🔼 Beltway Battles. Local rivalries are always tough. No matter what, you know you’re in for a battle every time.

Mason’s volleyball team faced three of those this past weekend as it hosted the DC Challenge, dropping three tough matches to American (3-2), Georgetown (3-0) and Howard (3-2).

Nani Spaar, a transfer from Santa Clara, and junior Ewelina Gacek led the way, combining for 77 kills in the three matches. Spaar also had 34 digs and five service aces in her first weekend in the Green and Gold.

🔼 Mining For Gold. Sunshine State Slate Is Set. (Say that five times fast)

First up for the Patriots in November will be Charlotte on November 19th at 5:30 pm. Followed up the next day with facing off against UCF or South Dakota State.

SDSU has made five of the past 10 NCAA Tournaments, UCF has reloaded and will be hunting its first NCAA Tournament since 2019 and Charlotte is under a brand new head coach for its first season in the American Athletic Conference.

Bring on November.

🔼 Among the Elite. We know one thing. The Mason women’s soccer team will be battle tested.

The Patriots difficult slate continued this weekend as they hosted #5 Virginia on Sunday night, dropping a hard-fought 4-0 decision to the Cavaliers.

Nearly 1,000 people packed the stands and watched freshman Ginny Fronk register a career-high eight saves on the evening.

Off On The Right Foot. Whether it’s the right foot or left foot or even the head, it doesn’t matter how it’s scored, every goal is memorable.

It’s even more memorable when you score a goal in your first collegiate game, which is exactly what Abdul Kamara did last Thursday night in Mason’s season opener against UMBC.

Scoring a goal in your first game as a true freshman is not common, even in a program as established as Mason.
