⚾️ Looking ahead to Fordham
⭐ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Another One. After the news that George Mason University men's basketball had added former Virginia Tech standout Darius Maddox they went and took another look at the transfer portal and… what do you know? They found another future Patriot.

Former Central Michigan student-athlete Nicolas Pavrette will join the team beginning in 2023-2024, according to head coach Tony Skinn. As a 6’11” forward/center, the junior comes to Fairfax possessing a robust defensive pedigree and a natural ability to protect the rim. A native of Lyon, France, Nicolas Pavrette competed for the Chippewas for each of the last two seasons, seeing action in 54 games and coming away with a team-high 29 blocks this past season.

🔼 High Society. Graduate student Hannah Robertson has been named Atlantic 10 Women's Field Performer of the Week, earning her first conference award of the season. The Springfield, Virginia native placed seventh in the pole vault off a 3.78m jump at last month’s Penn Relays and she holds the third spot in the conference with this performance.

🔼 Honor Roll. George Mason women's lacrosse senior Meghan Deehan has garnered postseason recognition from the Atlantic 10, earning an All-Academic nod—the first postseason honor of her career. The goalkeeper was one of just 12 student-athletes to earn the award and the first Patriot to do so since 2021. In the classroom, the senior holds a 3.86 GPA and will graduate this month with a degree in Integrative Studies with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Development. For her outstanding work in the classroom, she was honored as a Provost Scholar this year by George Mason.

🔼 The Borough That Ruth Built. George Mason baseball is (Wille Nelson voice) on the road again, this time facing Fordham for a three-game, Atlantic 10 series beginning this afternoon at Houlihan Park in Bronx, New York. First pitch is at 3:00pm ET sharp. Last time out the Patriots downed Navy by a score of 4-1, with freshman starter Logan Rumberg winning his second straight start and junior Kyle Menaker earning his first save in a Mason uniform.

Last Time Out: George Mason took two-of-three from Fordham last season at Spuhler Field with the Rams winning the first game before the Patriots claimed the final two games of the series by final scores of 8-7 and 15-1.

🤔 Fun Fact: Five of the last eight games between the Patriots and Rams have been decided by one run going back to the 2017 season.

🤔 PATRIOT TRIVIA

One and done. George Mason baseball has us feeling hopeful for this weekend’s series after coming off a masterful defensive performance against Navy—holding the Midshipmen to just one run.

Our question today… how many times have they held opponents to just one run (or less) in a game this season?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Five times

Saint Peter’s, Maine, Dayton, Mount St. Mary’s, and Navy all wear the same badge of honor with distinction—they all scored (at most) one run in a single game against the Patriots this year.

Have a great Friday and an even better weekend, y’all.
