📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Up, Up and Away. It was a second half for the ages as the Mason men’s hoops squad thrilled the Homecoming crowd on Saturday afternoon in Fairfax.

Shooting to the tune of 60.7-percent, the Patriots scored 52 points in the second half en route to a 92-84 victory over Rhode Island to improve to 15-5 overall and 4-3 in league play.

Senior Darius Maddox led the Patriots with a career-best 24 points, including 4 three-pointers, while sophomore sensation Keyshawn Hall added an efficient 22 points despite battling foul trouble.

Supplying plenty of energy and spark, freshman Baraka Okojie tallied a career-best 18 points, while graduate forward Amari Kelly held down the paint with 17 points and game highs in rebounds (9) and blocks (4).

🔺 MasonNation > RamNation. No better way to honor the past than with a W.

On a day that the Mason women’s hoops team celebrated 50 years of program history, the Patriots diced up the nation’s leading defense en route to a critical 60-47 victory over VCU on Sunday afternoon in Fairfax.

The Patriots have now won six in a row and eight of the past nine heading into a mid-week home matchup with Fordham as the Green & Gold look to stay in the battle at the top of the A-10 standings.

Leading the way for Mason was the duo of Ta'Viyanna Habib and Zahirah Walton, who both had 13 points and nine rebounds on the day. It was a career-high in rebounds for Habib, while Walton was just one board off her second-straight double-double, and also tallied two blocks and an assist.

🔺 Flyin’ High. With the storms over the past few weeks, there’s been power outages throughout the area.

But don’t worry, freshman standout Walt Bannerman of the Mason track & field program supplied plenty of energy with a stunning performance at the Patriot Games on Saturday.

Bannerman not only set a personal best, but also won the pole vault AND moved into second all-time in program history when he sent the crowd into a roar, clearing 16’ 10” in the pole vault.

The freshman was one of a slew of Patriots with HUGE performances during a big weekend for the Green & Gold, who have their eyes at the 2024 A-10 Indoor Championship in a few weeks.

🔺 Ws On Top Of Ws. On the court, on the track, in the air and even in the pool.

The Patriots were piling up wins all over the place this weekend.

In the pool, the Green & Gold swept visiting UMBC with the women taking home a 202-98 win and the men a 188-110 defeat of the Retrievers.
