Happy Tuesday Patriots. Some people enjoy tacos on Tuesdays. The George Mason baseball team, however, enjoyed their on a party of their own on Tuesday.

The Patriots defended home turf and lit up the scoreboard en route to taking down an in-state rival.

🔺 Tack It On Tuesday. While some people pile up tacos on Tuesday nights, the Mason baseball team piled up the offense.

Defending their home turf yet again, the Patriots exploded offensively to lead the way to a 16-3 victory over in-state rival VMI at Spuhler Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Carsen Pracht’s three hit day led the 14-hit attack, while Connor Dykstra and Reece Woody each drove in three runs. Veteran South Trimble reached base six times on the afternoon and scored five of Mason’s 16 runs on the day.

🔺 We See You Rook. You know what they say about first impressions, right?

Daniella Jimenez of the Mason women’s lacrosse definitely heard it because the freshman is making quite a name for herself in her debut collegiate season.

The Woodbridge, Va. native scored six goals in the Patriots’ two goals last week and was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for her performance.

Jimenez is the first Patriot to earn the Rookie of the Week award since 2019.

🔺 Nearly Golden. It was nearly a golden week for the Mason men’s golf team.

Playing at the famed public course in Williamsburg, Va., the Patriots earned runner-up honors at this week’s Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate.

Mason had two players finish in the top 5 led by Nikita Gubenko (68-72-71=211) on the par 71, 6,817-yard course. The senior finished a career-best third overall in the field of 77 players. It's his third top-15 finish this season.
 
Freshman JJ Powell (73-72-68=213) earned a second straight top-10 standing with a fourth-place finish, the best in his first collegiate year. Powell has posted five top 25 finishes in eight tournaments this season.
