🔺 Bye George. Millions around the world will enjoy some Valentine’s sweets this week.

On Tuesday night, the Mason hoops team got something sweeter than any piece of chocolate: revenge.

The Patriots blitzed nearby rival George Washington from the jump and ran away to a 90-67 victory, improving to 17-8 on the year and are now within striking distance (2.5 games) of a top-four seed in the Atlantic 10.

Five different players scored in double-figures, led once again by Keyshawn Hall, who picked up yet another double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Amari Kelly (16 pts), Woody Newton (13), Jared Billups (10) and Austin Ball (10) all finished in double-digits for the Green & Gold.

🔺 Galentine’s Day On The Road. No better time to spend the night with the ones you love than Valentine’s Day, right?

The Mason women’s hoops squad is back on the road tonight looking to stay among the top of the Atlantic 10 standings when they take on a red-hot Davidson squad, who is looking to continue their climb in those standings.

Winners of nine of the past 10, the Patriots are looking for their 20th victory of the season.

🔺 Holding Court. The Chiefs weren’t the only ones winning this past weekend as Mason’s tennis squads both held court with victories of their own.

On Sunday, the men’s team won their second straight match, sweeping Loyola, 7-0, while the women’s squad picked up their first win of the young 2024 spring season with a 5-2 defeat of Mary Washington on Saturday.

🔺 Strive For Five. The 2023-24 season resume for sophomore Zahirah Walton is getting longer than a CVS receipt.

This week, the list kept growing as Walton was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the 🖐th time this season.
 
It marks the eighth overall Rookie of the Week honor for the Patriots this season, as Walton already earned it on Dec. 26, Jan. 15, Jan. 22 and Jan. 29., while freshman Kennedy Harris has earned it three times.
