🔼 Maniaks — Assemble! Sure, free tickets are nice, but exclusive giveaways, prizes? Priority seating? Special events?

How can you not be a Mason Maniak?!?

The Maniaks will support all 22 George Mason varsity sports as the official student cheering section.

The moniker comes from the popular Mason Maniak, which served as George Mason's official mascot in the 1980s. The new Mason Maniaks logo pays tribute to the celebrated creature and was created from vintage photographs and drawings.

Students who join the Mason Maniaks will receive a free t-shirt, with pick up beginning at the November 15 men's basketball game (7:30 p.m.).

Students can sign up for the Mason Maniaks through Mason360 by clicking here. Once in the group, Maniaks will receive exclusive communication about upcoming events, giveaways and more.

🔼 Praising A Pair. Always a good day when you take home an award, it’s even better when it’s two.

A pair of Patriots earned accolades this week from the Atlantic 10 after dominant showings in Mason’s two-day dual victory over conference foe La Salle last weekend.

Sophomore Tate Anderson was selected Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, while freshman Alex Crown was named A-10 Men's Rookie of the Week.

Anderson, a native of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., won three individual events and was part of four victorious relay events to help the Patriots win.

Crown, from Gainesville, Va., won two individual events in the Patriots 203-142 win over the Explorers.

🔼 Nate The Great. Days before the season opener, sophomore Nate Higley is already receiving praise.

The Sullivan County, Pa. native piled up 24 wins last year and earned the NCAA bid at the MAC Championships last year after taking down two ranked opponents en route to the 149-pound MAC Championship.

He begins the 2023-24 season as the MAC’s top wrestler at 149 according to the preseason rankings unveiled by WrestlingStat.

This week, the Mason men’s volleyball program was on the scence at Oak View Elementary as they will be working with their new found friends throughout the upcoming school year, partnering with the kids and school to help form bonds that extend far beyond any volleyball court.

The fellas can’t wait to return for a visit!

⭐️ ICYMI - HONORING THE LEGENDS

This past weekend, Fairfax welcomed home some legends as the George Mason Wrestling hosted its first-ever Wrestling Hall of Fame weekend.

One of the most successful programs opened a new chapter this weekend, welcoming back alumni, coaches and and its 1974 undefeated team.

This event celebrated the rich history of George Mason that dates back more than 50 years to the 1972-1973 season.

The inaugural induction included: the undefeated 1974 team, Johnny Curtis '93, Matt Finacchio '95, Bryan Hazard '96, Scott Kirsch '91, Paul Maltagliati '83, Sean Shea '01, Dan Wotring '81, Head Coach Mike Moyer, 1985-1995 and Head Coach Roger Rinker, 1974-1981.

In addition to the weekend, the newly renovated Mason wrestling room has a new name, the Wotring Family Wrestling Room. The honor recognizes the former wrestler and his family's passionate support to George Mason spanning more than five decades.
