🎬 BUDDY AND THE PATRIOTS

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

Ok ok, no singing will be required, but there will be plenty of holiday spirit when the Mason men’s basketball team hosts a special showing of “Elf” on December 17th.

Patriot fans and families can join the men’s squad from 3-6pm at University Mall Theaters.

Pictures with the team will be available and a surprise visit from the Mason Basketball Santa and his elves!

📈 STOCK UP

🔺 Rocketing To 7-1. We tried to warn people. We tried to tell them.

This Mason men’s basketball team is LEGIT.

Once again, the Patriots used a hard-nosed defensive effort and a potent offensive display to pick up their first true road of the season, 86-77, over a quality Toledo squad.

Mason led for over 28 of the possible 40 minutes and used a huge second half-run to put away the Rockets.

Grad transfer Amari Kelly was a FORCE inside with 24 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. It was Kelly’s second-straight double-double for the Green & Gold.

Senior point guard Ronald Polite III continued his strong play of late with 14 points, three assists and two steals, while classmate Darius Maddox chipped in 14 points (6-12 FG), six rebounds and a team-high four assists.

🔺 To The Wire. On Sunday afternoon in College Park, the Mason women’s basketball team showed the country, this ain’t no fluke.

The Patriots took one of the top programs in the country to the wire, battling Maryland until the final minutes in a tough 86-77 loss to the Terps.

Prior to Sunday’s matchup, the Green & Gold had never played Maryland within single-digits. Mason took a lead into the halftime break until the Terps had an outburst and eventually grabbed the lead back late in the third.

Sonia Smith poured in 21 points, four assists and three rebounds, while Zahirah Walton was outstanding with a career-high 18 points and 14 rebounds. Taylor Jameson (16 pts) and Nekhu Mitchell (10 pts) also had double-digits for the Patriots.

🔺 Action on Action. While millions of Americans spent their weekends doing their holiday shopping, the Mason wrestling squad had a busy weekend on the mats.

On Saturday, the Patriots swept their way past Davidson (24-10) and Cleveland State (23-14) in dual meets. On Sunday, the Green & Gold were back on the mats for the Patriot Open, where five wrestlers placed, including Nate Higley being crowned the champ at 141-pound.
