Well don’t worry folks, we’ve got you covered as we relive some of the best moments in Patriot history throughout the rest of the summer. Our squads are back at Eagle Bank and we’ve got more insight on our new leader.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 We’re So Back. Summer officially kicked off last week, but the Patriots didn’t head to the beach, they were back in Eagle Bank Arena for team workouts under new head Coach Tony Skinn.

🔼 Five For Fighting. Coming to a court near you are five new Patriots that have signed on to join the women’s tennis program in 2023-2024.

Including in the group are Ruju Chauhan, and four freshmen, including two Virginia natives Lakshya Motam and Alisa Orsinger, as well as Cena Liu and Brooklyn Siegel.

🔼 Miller Time. Former Patriot Jordan Miller is taking his talents to the NBA as the former Mason star was selected in the second round by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Miller, who spent the final two seasons of his collegiate career at Miami, was as versatile as they come, creating matchup nightmares for opponents.

During his two-plus seasons in Fairfax, Miller averaged 13.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He played in 69 games and started 66 of those contests.

🌠 MASON MEMORY MONDAYS

The year? 2015. The nation finds out what we already knew. Doc Nix and the Green Machine are at the head of the class.

In 2015, Doc Nix and his crew took home the NCAA’s Top Best Band.

The Green Machine’s affinity for adding rappers, singers, and electronic violins to the pieces it performs is just one of the reasons the association cited in naming the band number one.

Like we said, they are the best of the best.

🤔 PATRIOT TRIVIA

Who was the latest? Mason now has 22 varsity sports competing at the NCAA Division I level.

It all started with both basketball programs joining the Division I level for the 1978-79 seasons.

Do you know the last program(s) to become an intercollegiate sport for the Patriots?

⭐ MONDAYS WITH MARVIN

Getting His Start. Each Monday for the rest of the summer, we’ll bring you a fact, tidbit, or highlight about our newest leader, Marvin Lewis, who officially begins his Athletic Director duties for the Patriots on July 1st.

Last week we talked about Lewis’ success on the court at Georgia Tech. Well, that success continued after graduating from Tech as he quickly joined the Georgia State Athletic Department in Atlanta and started his collegiate administration path as an athletic administrator.

After spending nearly three years working for a regional accounting firm in Atlanta, the itch for collegiate athletics was too strong and the former student-athlete jumped into the Associate AD for finance position with the Panthers in 2007, just two years after they joined the CAA as conference rivals with George Mason.

Lewis spent five years at Georgia State before moving on to College Park and the University of Maryland.
