🔺 Make It A Dozen. While it wasn’t West Philadelphia, Keyshawn Hall gave us some old school Fresh Prince thoughts with a dominant second half in the Atlantic 10 opener for Mason’s men’s hoops squad.

Hall dropped a 27-point, 13-rebound effort on La Salle as the Patriots blitzed the Explorers in the second half en route to a 77-62 road win on Wednesday night.

Mason ratcheted up the Patriot Pressure in the second half and held La Salle to just 19 second half points to reach 12-2 for the first time since 1983-84.

🔺 Go DJ! He’s Our DJ!. He may not be spinning turntables, but he’s doing work on the mats.

For the second time already this season, Mason redshirt freshman DJ McGee earned Co-East Wrestler of the Week accolades from the Mid-American Conference.

McGee also earned the award on November 21st and teammated Nathan Higley grabbed the accolade in early December for the Green & Gold.

McGee finished fourth at the 59th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, tying the second-best finish in program history at the prestigious tournament. The weekend was highlighted by his win over a returning MAC Champion and top-ranked wrestler in the conference, Johnny Lovett of Central Michigan.

🔺 California Clash. Omar Hoyos and Jack Bolz each unleashed double-digit kills, but it wasn’t enough as Mason’s men’s volleyball squad dropped a tough 3-1 decision to UC San Diego on Thursday night to open up its 2024 season.

Troy McDonald dished out 30 assists and had seven digs to help the Patriots grab the second set 25-23 to even things up, but the Toros responded with back-to-back set wins to close out the season opener.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Sixth.

Hall’s eight double-doubles are tied for the sixth-most in the country by any Division I player. He is tied with Hampton’s Kyrese Mullen as the most by an underclassmen. They are the only two underclassmen to rank in the top-30 nationally in double-doubles.
