🔺 Two In The Hand. After a 20 win first season with Coach Skinn at the helm, the Mason men’s basketball program is building for more success in the future.

After adding Siena big man Giovanni Emejuru earlier this spring, two more transfers are headed to Fairfax.

Iona guard Jeremiah Quigley and Auburn guard K.D. Johnson officially joined the Patriots recently.

Quigley put together an outstanding freshman campaign for the Gaels in 2023-24 while ranking second on the team in assists (3.3 apg) and third in scoring (10.8 ppg).

Johnson brings a wealth of elite-level experience to Fairfax, having suited up in 102 career games at Auburn with 32 starts. Over his three seasons on the Plains, Johnson's Auburn teams averaged 25.3 wins while notching two NCAA Tournament victories and the 2024 SEC Championship title.

He scored 959 career points and dished out 142 assists in three seasons at Auburn. A gifted defensive player, he notched 139 steals, including 1.9/game as a sophomore, which ranked eighth in the SEC.

🔺 They Are Real (All) Americans. For nearly the entire 2024 season, the Patriots men’s volleyball team was ranked among the nation’s best.

Two of the leaders of that group earned the program’s first two All-American accolades since in three years.

Omar Hoyos and Paul Wyszynski were named as All-American Honorable Mentions today by AVCA. Both players were key for Mason's run at achieving the EIVA #2 seed, stay ranked nationally in the top 20 all season, and reaching the EIVA Championships.

🔺 Ace In The Hole. When its coming down the stretch, big time players make big time plays.

Mason ace Chad Gartland did exactly that with his third complete game of his career, which earned him Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week.

Gartland, a native of Rochester, N.Y., struck out 11 batters with no walks in a 3-2 complete-game victory against VCU on Saturday at Spuhler Field.

⭐️ A NEW ERA

A new era is officially here for our beloved University and Athletics department.

Last week, George Mason University unveiled a completely redesigned logo as the capstone of its three-year-long comprehensive rebrand. The new look, which will include a single logo for the university and its athletics program, asserts George Mason’s emerging identity as a national top 50 public university and Virginia’s top-ranked university for innovation and upward mobility, as well as the commonwealth’s largest, most innovative, and most diverse university.

The ongoing rebrand signals George Mason’s convention-defying rise to become a leading national public research university by expanding access to excellence through an unwavering commitment to inclusive innovation. The rebrand rollout began in 2021, with preparations to mark 50 years of George Mason as a university in 2022 with updated brand narrative that proclaims the university’s distinct approach to education as All Together Different.
