🔺 The Key To Victory. Most folks visit Florida for a quick getaway to relax and unwind.

Relaxation is the exact opposite of what Coach Skinn and the men’s basketball team did during their two-game trip down to the Sunshine State for the Jacksonville Classic.

The Green & Gold played two knock-down, drag-out battles and on Monday, the toughness and grit helped the Patriots pull out a 73-71 win over a tough South Dakota State squad.

Sophomore Keyshawn Hall continued his torrid streak (see below) by hitting the game-winner with less than four seconds to play to cap off a 23-point, 15-rebound, three-assist outing to lead the way.

He was one of four Patriots in double-figures, along with Darius Maddox (14), Baraka Okojie (12) and Amari Kelly (10).

🔺 One Hall Of A Week. We’re only a few weeks into the 2023-24 season and one thing is for sure, Keyshawn Hall has turned heads not only in the Atlantic 10, but around the country.

Because of his big time performances last week, the Cleveland native earned Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week accolades for the very first time.

Hall exploded for averages of 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the floor (16-32) in two games for George Mason this past week. He also dished out 2.0 assists/game, made 41.7 percent of his 3-point attempts (5-13) and went 10-of-12 (.833) from the line.

Through five games, Hall leads the Patriots in scoring (17.8 ppg) and rebounding (11.0 rpg).

🔺 McGee On A Mission. There’s a fire that’s been unlocked inside DJ McGee.

McGee, a freshman from Stafford, Va., is a perfect 9-0 this year with two wins over ranked opponents.

He broke into the national rankings last year and this week, he earned Mason’s first weekly award in the six years that the Patriots’ have been a part of the Mid-American Conference.

McGee was named Co-East Wrestler of the Week after going 2-0 last week, including a win over Michael Blockhus of Minnesota, a four-time NCAA Qualifier.

🔺 Pack Your Bags. Plenty of history has taken place in the nation’s capital.

Why not add another chapter?

Mason’s women’s basketball team will chase history later today in DC when it takes the court at American looking for the best start in program history and sixth straight win to start the 2023-24 season.

Today marks the 55th  installment of the longtime series, dating back to George Mason's second season in program history on February 8, 1975 when the Patriots won 66-62. The Patriots won last year's meeting in Fairfax, 71-59, and will look to win on the road in DC for the first time since 2006.

The contest also kicks off a long six-game, non-conference road swing for the Green & Gold.
