With a slew of new faces, a core of veteran Patriots and the return of Mason legends to the coaching staff, it’s sure to be an exciting year for the Green & Gold.

🔼 Call To The Hall. What better way to kick off a new season than honoring the legends that built the foundation?

One of the most successful programs in the athletic department is opening a new chapter as the Mason Wrestling Hall of Fame is set to host its inaugural George Mason Wrestling Hall of Fame Ceremony, inducting alumni, coaches, and its 1974 undefeated team on Sunday, October 29^th. at the Stacey Sherwood Community Center in Fairfax.

This event will celebrate the rich history of George Mason that dates back more than 50 years to the 1972-1973 season. The George Mason University Wrestling Hall of Fame is established to recognize and honor outstanding achievement in wrestling, contributions to Mason athletics, and significant service to society. Contributions through coaching, refereeing, sponsorships, media, announcing, and lifetime support also qualify individuals for induction.
 
The inaugural induction includes: the undefeated 1974 team, Johnny Curtis '93, Matt Finacchio '95, Bryan Hazard '96, Scott Kirsch '91, Paul Maltagliati '83, Sean Shea '01, Dan Wotring '81, Head Coach Mike Moyer, 1985-1995 and Head Coach Roger Rinker, 1974-1981.

🔼 To The Wire. We might not have any fingernails left after this fall.

The Mason men’s soccer team will enter the last week of the regular season with a fighting chance at a spot in the 2023 Atlantic 10 Tournament and it will all come down to next Saturday’s action.

This past Saturday, the Green & Gold fought VCU, who currently sits second in the A-10, to the wire, but fell, 2-1 to the Rams.

Grad student Luis Maestre continued his hot streak with his fourth goal of the season. The veteran has now scored a point in five straight games for the Patriots.

Mason has just one conference game left and sits three points out of the eighth and final playoff spot. A win and other results from around the league could land the Patriots in the postseason for the first time since 2019.

🔼 The Great Gelfound. 37 assists, 12 kills, 17 digs and she’s a sophomore.

The future of the Mason volleyball program is bright with Gabriella Gelfound at the core and the second-year star had a career day on Saturday against one of the top teams in the Atlantic 10.

Gelfound was just one dig short of a triple-double against Davidson, but her effort wasn’t enough as the Wildcats swept a pair of matches in Fairfax over the weekend.

With seven conference matches left on the schedule, the Patriots are just three games out of the final spot in the 2023 Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Twice as Nice (and more). With two more games on the regular season slate, the Mason men’s soccer team is already showing a bright future is ahead for the Patriots.

Not only have the Green & Gold matched the combined win total of the past two seasons, but they’ve more than doubled last year’s goal output.

Mason has scored 24 goals this fall, which is more than double last year’s total of 11.
