🔼 So Fresh, So Clean. As the calendar ticks towards the end of the schedule, every minute, every game becomes more and more critical.

Some people may call the Ghost Busters. We called in the Mason men’s soccer defensive unit.

The Patriots stifling effort on Saturday provided the Green & Gold with a crucial 1-0 road victory over Duquesne to keep Mason in the hunt for a spot in the upcoming A-10 Tournament.

Sophomore defender Kelly Janssen scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Luis Maestre, who has now assisted on six of Mason’s 14 goals (that he didn’t score), this year.

Netminder Jaume Salvado posted his third shutout of the season for the Green & Gold.

With three conference games remaining, the Patriots are just one point out of the final spot and two points out from a tie for fifth-place.

🔼 Golden Girls. No, no, we’re not talking about Betty White and the girls.

We’re talking the golden anniversary of the Mason women’s basketball program!

During the 2023-24 season, the Patriots are recognizing and celebrating 50 years of women's basketball at GMU.

Throughout the year, the program and department will be highlighting major milestones, events and athletes over the past 50 years. One of the first women's varsity sports offered at the university, women's basketball saw the signing of Title IX and the transition into a Division I program less than 10 years after its inception.

The Patriots played their first game in February of 1974 and became a Division I program prior to the 1982-83 season. Mason joined the Colonial Athletic Association for the 1985-86 season and relocated to the Atlantic 10 Conference during the 2013-14 school year.

Stay tuned throughout the coming month for more features, information and so much more.

🔼 Blinged Out. No one forgets when they get that special bling!

Saturday night was a special night for the Green & Gold as the Mason Softball Fest was held and the Patriots celebrated their first-ever Atlantic 10 title with some fresh bling.

An incredible crowd of family, friends and supporters gathered to reflect on an unforgettable spring and look forward to a bright, bright future.

🔼 Getting It Started. And now we go.

Mason’s swimming & diving programs opened up their dual meet season this past weekend against nearby rival, Towson.

The Tigers came out victorious in both the men’s and women’s side, but the Patriots tallied eight event victories on the day.

🔼 Hoop Dreams. Mason Madness on Friday, Open Practice on Saturday.

🤔 PATRIOT TRIVIA

Dishing It Out. Luis Maestre sure loves to share.

In Saturday’s win at Duquesne, the grad student dished out his sixth assist of the season. Not including the goal he scored, he has assisted on nearly half of Mason’s goals this season.

The six assists is the most by a Patriot since 2017 when Henning Dirks had seven assists.

Who holds the single season record for most assists in a season?
