TGIF Mason Nation. No better way to salute a senior than by sending them out on top.

That’s exactly what two of the youngsters on Mason’s women’s soccer team did last night as the Patriots ended the year in a big way!

🔼 Senior Salute. “Play for the Seniors.”

It’s a simple message that is shared before every Senior Night.

For freshmen Kiyomi McCausland and Molly Starner of the Mason women’s soccer team, they took it to heart. Both youngsters scored to help the Patriots to a 3-1 win over St. Bonaventure in the season finale for the Green & Gold.

Mason finished the 2023 season winning the final two games to secure nine points in the Atlantic 10 standings. The nine points is almost double last year’s conference point total.

Of the 37 members of the 2023 roster, 30 were underclassmen as the Green & Gold continue to have a bright future.

🔼 We’ll Take Two. Why get one, when you can take two?

For the Mason men’s swimming & diving program, they did exactly that with junior Zane Roberts and freshman Ian Rodgers both being honored by the Atlantic 10. Roberts was named A-10 Men's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, while Rodgers was named the Rookie of the Week.
 
Roberts, a native of Chesapeake, Va., won three individual events and was part of a victorious relay to help the Patriots win their two-day dual over Davidson at the Richmond Duals last weekend.
 
Rodgers, from Newport News, Va., won four individual events in the Patriots 214-190 dual meet win over Davidson.

🔼 Cat Sitting. Coming down the stretch, the Mason volleyball team is looking to make a late season push towards a spot in the 2023 Atlantic 10 Tournament and that begins TONIGHT!

The Green & Gold sit just two games out of the final three spots in the tournament with nine matches left to play.

Davidson, the Patriots’ opponent this weekend, is currently one of the three teams tied in fourth place.

Veteran Nani Spaar enters this weekend ranked third in the conference with 3.39 kills/set, while sophomore Camille Larkin continues to rank at the top of the league with a .394 percentage in her breakout season.

Tonight’s match is set for 6 p.m., while tomorrow will get underway at 2 p.m.

🔼 Talkin’ Hoops. Lights, Camera, Action. Hoops seasons is almost here.

To help get us ready for the upcoming 2023-24 Mason men’s hoops season, the Patriots headed to Brooklyn for Atlantic 10 Media Day with Coach Skinn and Ronny Polite III jumping on the mic and having some fun for the cameras.

Polite III, who is coming of one of the most improved seasons in program history, was named to the Preseason All-Atlantic 10 Third Team by the league’s coaches.
 
The veteran guard made significant gains 2022-23 in nearly every statistical category, including scoring (11.5 ppg vs. 4.9 rpg), assists (4.0 vs. 1.4), 3pt FG% (.364 vs. .219) and overall FG% (.441 vs. .360).
