🔺 Young Gun. It’s been one of the best years in recent history for Mason women’s lacrosse.
Leading that way is a group of veterans, along with a slew of young talent, including freshman sensation Daniella Jimenez.
For the second time this season, Jimenez earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week accolades after helping the Patriots to a 16-11 win at La Salle last weekend, which included a three-point day from the Woodbridge, Va. native.
🔺 Tourney Time. Heading to enjoy some time in the Florida sunshine is not uncommon for college students.
But this trip, its all about business.
Today, the Mason women’s tennis opens play at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championships in Orlando, Fla.
Later this week, the men’s squad hits the court in Orlando in the opening round of the A-10 men’s tourney.
🔺 A Legend Forever. Johnny Curtis’ legendary career in wrestling wasn’t just confined to his four years at George Mason.
This past weekend, the Patriot great was honored with the Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award through the Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
The Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award is given in recognition of years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of wrestling. Each nominee must have 20 years of service to the sport to be considered.
As a wrestler at George Mason, Curtis is the program's only two-time NCAA All-American (1992, 1993). The three-time NCAA Qualifier ranks third all-time in wins at George Mason, he earned two Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) wrestler of the year honors and was voted on to the CAA 25th anniversary team.
