INSIDE MASON NATION
George Mason Athletics is experiencing success across various programs, including wrestling, swimming, and basketball. The university is investing in facility enhancements to improve the student-athlete experience and is actively engaging with fans and supporters through upcoming events and fundraising initiatives. 🔼 Historic Win. George Mason softball defeated James Madison 5-3, ending a 15-game losing streak spanning nearly 16 years against the Dukes. The Patriots scored all five runs in the third inning, highlighted by Kamryn Inman’s two-RBI single. Alyssa Rangel pitched 2.2 scoreless innings for the save. The Patriots will host Dayton for a three-game conference series this weekend. They’ll play a doubleheader tomorrow at noon.
🔼 Forever Bonded. George Mason lacrosse twins, Kaitlyn and Regan Bestick, reflect on their athletic journey as they prepare for their final season together. Raised in a sports-oriented family, their competitive spirit and work ethic were instilled by their parents. Despite facing challenges, including Regan’s transfer from Saint Joseph’s, their bond has only strengthened, and they are excited to pursue their individual career paths after graduation.
The lacrosse team will play at Davidson tomorrow at noon.
🔼 Rookie Reward. George Mason men’s tennis freshman Edgar Vilain was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week for the third time. Vilain went 2-0 in doubles and 1-0 in singles, helping the Patriots secure victories against Boston and Wagner.
The men’s tennis team will host Richmond in their conference opener today at noon.
🔼 Getting Comfortable. The men’s volleyball team begins a three-weekend homestand! They’ll host Saint Francis in a two-game series tonight at 6 p.m. and tomorrow at 5 p.m. Both games will stream on ESPN+.
🔼 On The Road, Again. Patriot baseball hits the road again for conference play! They’ll play a three-game series at Saint Louis, beginning tonight at 7 p.m. Fans can stream today and Sunday’s games on ESPN+.
