Patriot Brew 4/22: Stage Is Set

🏐 Men’s volleyball begins tournament play
🎾 Tennis at A-10 Championships

The Patriot Club Golf and Pickleball Outing brings George Mason supporters together for a day of competition and camaraderie in support of George Mason student-athletes. The event will be held at Chantilly National Golf and Country Club. Proceeds directly support the Patriot Club and enhance the student-athlete experience.

🔼  Stage Is Set. The men’s volleyball team will play Princeton in the first round of the EIVA Tournament today at 4:30 p.m. at Penn State. The Patriots own the No. 3 seed, while the Tigers own the No. 6 seed.

The Patriots had three All-EIVA First Team selections, one Second Team selection, one Honorable Mention, and 10 All-Academic Team members.

🔼 Tourney Time. The George Mason women’s tennis team, seeded 11th, will face No. 6 seed Rhode Island in the Atlantic 10 Championship first round tonight at 7 p.m. in Orlando, Florida. Maya Bayat leads the team with six singles victories this season.

🔼 Historic Seed. The George Mason men’s tennis team earned its highest seed in program history at No. 4 in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship. They will play No. 5 Richmond in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 9 a.m.

🔼 Rally Caps. Patriot baseball defeated James Madison 7-4 in their final home midweek game. Tanner Kaler earned his first win and Diego Cardenas earned his first save. James Madison led George Mason 4-0 after four innings, but the Patriots rallied for seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win 7-4. The Patriots will play at Fordham for a three-game Atlantic 10 series starting Friday.

🔼 Defended Home Field. George Mason softball defeated Hampton 6-4, capitalizing on a three-run sixth inning. Tess Altevers Harris and Payton Auerbach led the offense, while Harlowe Nigh pitched a season-high 5.0 innings for the win.

🔼 Summer Lovin’. George Mason women’s basketball coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis announced the addition of Summer Yancy, a 5’11” transfer from UCF, for the 2026-27 season. Yancy, a versatile player with experience in the Big 12, averaged 6.4 points, 2.1 assists, and 30 steals in her sophomore year at UCF. A Kansas City native, Yancy was a standout high school player, earning All-State honors and leading her team to district championships.
